Posição orbital de referência na recepção satélite europeia. Na realidade, são duas posições, mas dada a sua proximidade são invariavelmente identificadas como uma única.

Através desta constelação de satélites são difundidos os pacotes digitais da BBC, ITV, FREESAT e SKY.

A cobertura radioelétrica para a nossa posição geográfica é excelente, exceptuando os feixes "North" transmitidos pelos Astra 2A e 2B, os quais não são de todo recebidos em Portugal.

O diâmetro mínimo de antena aconselhado será de 90 centímetros para o ASTRA 2D, enquanto que o EUROBIRD 1 e os restantes satélites ASTRA - no que toca à recepção dos feixes "South" - podem ser recebidos com antenas a partir de 60cm de diâmetro.

No arquipélogo da Madeira, é possível a recepção do Eurobird 1 e do feixe "South" dos Astra utilizando uma antena com diâmetro mínimo estimado em 1,20 metros.

Embora no arquipélogo da Madeira seja possível, embora de forma limitada, a sua recepção já nos Açores não é possível de todo.

Quanto ao novo ASTRA 1N, acaba mesmo de chegar a esta posição orbital.

Tem alguns canais televisivos interessantes pela novidade, tais como o M Lebanon, um outro denominado pelo tipo de de codificador como Tandberg Service e o IMN.

O seu idioma é o árabe, o que poderá novamente ser um obstáculo para a maioria dos potenciais interessados.
