Em relação  à zona de cobertura designada como "West África Beam", a captação também não é muito fácil, mas neste caso irradia um EIRP um pouco mais potente, com intensidade de campo neste feixe a ser maior na zona Sul, na ordem dos 46 dBW, decrescendo para Norte até aos 42 dBW. O diâmetro de antena aconselhado será na ordem dos 80 centímetros (como mínimo) para a zona de cobertura mais favorável.


Quanto aos canais televisivos, são poucos e de interesse relativo.

Posição orbital composta por três satélites ... O THOR 2, que esta em fim de vida e com órbita inclinada de cerca de 3.2º, não é captável em Portugal, assim como o ASTRA 3A, o qual tem o seu diagrama de irradiação localizado na Europa Central.


Neste caso, o único satélite a que os portugueses poderão ter acesso será o ASTRA 3B, o qual a partir do feixe "Europe Wide" proporciona um sinal radioelétrico de nível bastante razoável praticamente em todo o território  português, com excessão do Algarve e parte Sul do Baixo Alentejo, onde a atena a utilizar deverá ter um diâmetro de 1,20 metros, ou superior. Quanto ao restante território: de 60 a 80 centímetros.


Relativamente aos canais televisivos, a maior parte pertencem a "bouquets" codificados de países da Europa Central, mas os que se podem captar em modo livre (FTA) normalmente apresentam programas bastante interessantes.

Posição orbital de referência na recepção satélite europeia. Na realidade, são duas posições, mas dada a sua proximidade são invariavelmente identificadas como uma única.


Através desta constelação de satélites são difundidos os pacotes digitais da BBC, ITV, FREESAT e SKY.


A cobertura radioelétrica para a nossa posição geográfica é excelente, exceptuando os feixes "North" transmitidos pelos Astra 2A e 2B, os quais não são de todo recebidos em Portugal.

O diâmetro mínimo de antena aconselhado será de 90 centímetros para o ASTRA 2D, enquanto que o EUROBIRD 1 e os restantes satélites ASTRA - no que toca à recepção dos feixes "South" - podem ser recebidos com antenas a partir de 60cm de diâmetro.


No arquipélogo da Madeira, é possível a recepção do Eurobird 1 e do feixe "South" dos Astra utilizando uma antena com diâmetro mínimo estimado em 1,20 metros.

Embora no arquipélogo da Madeira seja possível, embora de forma limitada, a sua recepção já nos Açores não é possível de todo.

Quanto ao novo ASTRA 1N, acaba mesmo de chegar a esta posição orbital.
